Panjir Jazz Band
Panjir Jazz Band, established in March, 2006, was the result of the friendship between David Mitchell (British) and Ike (Xinjiang, China).
¡¡¡¡Both of these two are excellent guitarists with different playing style.
Graduated from Berklee School in the United States and now as a professor in Beijing Modern Music Academy, David Mitchell (Zhou Dawei) is one of the best guitarists in China. He is also captain of the Enfant Terrible Band.
Ike is young and said to be the best guitarist in Xinjiang. He performed and cooperated together with the famous singers and musicians from Beijing, recording scores of albums. Ike¡¯s music combines the Spanish Flamenco music with the Buddhist traditional Uyghur music. He is the composer and singer in the band. Panjir is the most popular band which plays the world's music in Beijing. The music style is a combination of modern jazz and traditional Uyghur music.
