Graduated from China Conservatory of Music, Kong Hongwei stayed there to teach music until now. He started to learn Jazz by himself in 1990. In 1993, he joined Cui Jian¡¯s band as keyboard player. In 1996, he established Tian Square and served as a pianist for composition. In 1997, he set up a blues band Rhythm Dog. In 1998, he was a producer for Sony Music in China. He has rich experience in music and performance. During this period of the 1990s, he participated in the recording of Jazz album Made in China, Rhythm Dog, etc. He issued his personal Jazz album Summer Palace in 2002 and participated overseas performances in Melbourne, Sydney, United Kingdom, Hong Kong and other places.

His vitality and dedication to music have made him become the legend of popular music in China. Now he is the image spokesman for China¡¯s keyboard brand Rocket.
