One of the best Jazz bands with the highest standard in China!

This band's music styles flexibly revolve around free Jazz, Rock n' Roll, rap and Chinese traditional music, etc. Distinctiveness is the essence of this band.

Nathaniel Gao (Saxophone)

As the soul figure and saxophonist, Nathaniel Gao formed Red Hand and made it appear on stage in Beijing. Gao, a Chinese-American studied Jazz saxophone at the University of Northern Iowa, came to China to study Chinese and exchange ideas about music. He met many Jazz musicians in China and became the leading figure for many saxophonists, bringing a new force into the music in Beijing. His establishment of Red Hand has also attracted the alliance of several best musicians in Beijing.

Xia Jia (Keyboard)

As a schoolmate of Wen, Xia Jia (Keyboard player) later went to the United States to study Jazz and graduated from Eastman Conservatory. He is the conductor of the Beijing City Big Band. He is the front man of Dew Electric Trio and plays keyboard in Cui JianĄ¯s band.

Gu Hequan (Drums)

Studied bass drum in Berklee College of Music in the United States during 1990-1993.

Participated in the HIBARI ChildrenĄ¯s Choir at the age of 10.

Learned playing drum accompanying with HIBARI.

Performed percussion at the MOON concert by the composer TORU TAKEMITU.

The first bass drum expert in China recognized by the Bureau of Foreign Experts.

Now serves as chairman of the Department of Beijing Modern Jazz Academy of Music.
