Beijing Electronic Jazz Festival Starts in November
08-11-05

Jazz is no stranger to Chinese audiences, but the electronic jazz is still in its initial phase in China. The first Beijing International Electronic Jazz Festival will open in the Forbidden City Concert Hall from Nov. 15 to Nov. 9, 2008. The eight international E-jazz bands from France, the US, Britain and Norway are going to perform a jazz feast together with Red Hand Jazz Band and Dou Wei's Bu Yi Ding Band, combining jazz with the new technology.

Jazz plays a minor role in China's art industry. The E-jazz has even more limited audience. However, the organizer from a subsidiary company of Eyesight Media has good faith in the development of E-jazz in China. At the interview, Philippe, Chairman of Eyesight Group, said,'E-jazz is a product of time. Just like the white-collars who use electronic technology as a tool for social communication, electronic jazz is no exception, by using E-technology to expand the music and make it easily acceptable by the mass. The same as the lasting longevity of the great and ancient poetry in China, E-jazz is going to influence a large number of Chinese audience with its rich emotional connotation.' Michel, the chief manager of this festival, also stated that, 'Our programming of this festival is also a test for today's E-jazz music. It is a good opportunity for Beijing audience to get to know this new type of music and to let the musicians try out how to stir the sparks with a whole new yet not fully developed area of public audience.

It is known that all of the bands are comprised of the world's top music players. The classic works will be presented and the improvisation is going to amaze the audience. This festival also invites DOU Wei, who is prestigious in China's popular rock music and never intentionally caters to the audience or the popular stuff. Because of his unremitting faith in music, he wins more and more fans. This time he will present Zi You Shen Zhou, engaging the audience with the impact of electronic jazz.

In addition, this E-jazz festival has open Master Courses for the students from music schools, providing an opportunity for the close exchange between the Chinese students and the internationally famous musicians.
