The Asian music tour and teaching of David Friesen and Lawrence Ku Duet is presented by both the world's most famous musicians David Friesen and the outstanding Asian young musician Lawrence Ku (Gu Zhongshan). The band will perform David's original songs in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. At the same time they will hold master classes in some music academies and share with young students their knowledge and experience in music and jazz performances.

David Friesen (Bass)

Friesen is a veteran musician. The issuing number of CDs led and assisted by him is more than 65 and the recording albums have reached more than 100. He has performed together with the well-known jazz masters Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson, Sam Rivers, Michael Brecker, Bud Shank, Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Shaw, Freddy Hubbard, Art Farmer, Clark Terry, Joe Venuti, Mal Waldron, Jaki Byard, Kenny Drew Sr., Chick Corea, Milt Jackson, Slim Gaillard, John Scofield, Philly Joe Jones, Elvin Jones, Paul Motian, Jack Dejohnette and Airto Moreira. He is one of the several bass soloists who have held solo concerts in the world. His talent on stage has won him the reputation throughout the world. The footprint of Friesen and his band has spread in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and South America.

Lawrence Ku (Guitar)

Guitar virtuoso / composer Lawrence Ku (Gu Zhongshan) is one of the most influential musicians in China's jazz music world. His growth in Los Angeles, California, U.S., had witnessed his contacts with a series of first-class music masters such as Ben Monder, Charlie Banacos, Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone, George Lewis and Carol Kaye. In his studying years in Boston, he completed the post-graduate courses of composing and jazz playing at Longy School of Music and the New England Conservatory.

Lawrence Ku has performed with outstanding musicians such as Joe Lovano, Gunther Schuller, Maria Schneider, George Russell and Ken Schaphorst. With the developing momentum of jazz in Shanghai, Lawrence Ku, as a jazz leader, has close cooperation with musicians from around the world, such as Jon Morrison, Willow Neilson, Toby Mak, James Danderfer, Campbell Ryga, Cennet Jonsson, Alec Haavik, JQ Whitcomb, Xia Jia, Victor Noriega, Steinar Nickelson, Rolf Becker, Sinne Eeg, Andy Hunter, Peter Scherr, Simon Barker, Sean Higgins, EJ Parker, Chris Trzcinski and Nicholas Mcbride.
